SolarEdge and TIGI take home prestigious Intersolar award

Two Israeli companies are amongst the winners of the prestigious Intersolar 2012 award: Solaredge and TIGI. There were ten awards distributed in all in this international competition, so this is an extremely strong showing for Israel. Solaredge won in the Photovoltaic category, while TIGI won in the solar thermal technologies category.

According to the event website, their goal is to select the most groundbreaking and innovative solar companies in the world, “Intersolar strives to promote the industry’s power to innovate. To this end, the Intersolar Award, the award for innovation in the international solar industry, is presented each year. The Intersolar Award has established itself as the industry’s flagship and draws worldwide public attention to nominees and winners.”

TIGI’s innovation is the Honeycomb Collector, a new breed of solar-thermal (water heating) collectors that turns sunlight to heat. The Honeycomb Collector is unique in its ability to minimize energy losses to the environment, resulting in very high efficiency and economic value even in freezing winter conditions.

SolarEdge was recognized for its next generation power optimizer featuring the new IndOP™ technology which allows broader market adoption of power optimizers. “We are very proud to be recognized for our innovation,” said Guy Sella, CEO, Chairman and co-founder of SolarEdge. “As a market leader for distributed solar power optimization, this award affirms our belief and knowledge that mainstream use of module-level electronics is the right direction for accelerating the pace towards grid parity.”

The awards were presented at Intersolar Munich on June 13th.
